When I started thinking about how I wanted to ask my best friends to stand by me, on Colton and I’s wedding day, I kind of got a little emotional. I would read little poems on pinterest and then get tears in my eyes, thinking about my friends because the girls standing by my side are without doubt the best women in the world. Truly not trying to get over sentimental or anything, but each one of them make up the person I am today and I love them so much!

When I first told my mom that I wanted to make each of them boxes, I think she thought I was going a little overboard. Maybe I was, but I was adamant! I really wanted to do something special for them and ask them in the cutest way possible, without breaking the bank.

I ended up asking a total of ten girls to be in my bridal party, which can get pretty costly as I have recently learned (lol). Eight of my bridesmaids are my closest friends from high school and college, and then Colton’s sister Ashlynn as well! When it came to picking my MOH, I decided to have two! My best friend Ann Bowie, and my little sister Hannah. I had the hardest time with this and in the end ultimately couldn’t pick between the two. Hannah is my little sister and I love her more than life, but she is also only 15 and there are certain things she just can’t do nor plan, which is why I am so incredibly thankful for my Ann Bowie! Plus, Ann didn’t give me much of a choice haha! Just kidding, but when she found out we were engaged, I was face timing her and she yelled out, “Does this mean I’m your MOH!?”. It was funny and a total Ann move.

Anyways, after researching on Pinterest for what seemed like a lifetime, I finally made a decision on everything I would put in the boxes!

The Personalized Wine Bottles:

The moment Colton and I decided to get married in Napa, I knew I wanted to get my girls personalized bottles! I mean, it was too appropriate! I ended going with these wine bottle labels came from the Lollibella! They were absolutely perfect and were easy to put on. Lauren, the owner of the Etsy boutique is an absolute doll and made it so easy to personalize everything!

Also, since Hannah is only 15, Dad asked me not to gift her a wine bottle (lol), so instead of a personalized wine bottle, Hannah had a personalized coffee mug from Anthropologie in her box!

The Cards:

I found this print through Pinterest and absolutely loved it! I thought about ordering professional cards but instead, I decided to DIY them. I searched for free Bridal Party prints, found these, bought card stock paper, printed them out and made them myself!

I tried to write a little something different on each persons card, but if you are having  trouble finding the words, then these are some suggestions below!

What to say to your friends: I found my guy but now I need my girls! {Insert Name} will you please be my Bridesmaid?

What to say to your sister: I found my Mister, but now I need my sister! {Insert Name} will you be my Maid of Honor?

What to say to your future sister in law: The day (Your fiances name) and I marry, our families will blend. You’ll be my sister and also my friend. To make the day special & creat memories to last. There is one favor I have to ask. Will you be my Bridesmaid?

What to say to your MOH: I need something old, something borrowed and something blue. But most importantly…. I need you! (Insert Name), will you please stand by my side and be my Maid of Honor?

The Wine Stoppers

To continue with the wine theme, I decided to add personalized wine stoppers to the boxes! I bought these from Target for $5 each and they were the perfect addition! Unfortunately, Target was completely sold out of two of my girls letters at the time, so after looking for similar ones for what seemed like forever, I ended up just going with diamond shaped bottle stoppers, which worked just fine!

The Treats

For the girls I was able to ask in person, each box contained three macaroons from Petite Sweets in Houston! Since two of my friends lived outside of Houston, I wasn’t sure how macaroons would hold up through the mail. So instead of macaroons, I put little boxes of Sugar Fina in their bridal box as a treat!

How I Asked My Girls

As I mentioned above, each one of these girls really mean a lot to me, and them being apart of the wedding means the world. At the beginning, I really tried to plan a big brunch where I could ask almost all of them together at the same time, but it just didn’t work out, and schedules were not matching up so I had to go to plan B.

So instead, for each girl that I was able to ask in person, I tried to make it as special as possible. For four of my friends I was actually able to surprise them with a super cute brunch at La Table and had their boxes on their seats when they arrived.

The night I asked my little Gabi, I brought her to a super fun Bridal Fashion Show Event and it was literally so fun! Then another friend I asked during a wine and cheese night that we had set up at Sonoma Wine Bar in the Heights.

When I asked Ann, my MOH, I had to be very strategic. She was in Houston, from out of town, so I had to find time to steal her away from her bf for one day! The Saturday she was in town, we woke up and went to a Barre class at Equinox then went to brunch with Colton at Tiny Boxwoods. Some may think it was weird that Colton was there, but it wasn’t, because Ann has been a really big part of our relationship for the past three years and it has always kind of been the three of us. It was so hard hiding the box from her at brunch, but eventually I was able to slip away from the table to go to the “bathroom” and came back with her box!

When it came to asking my sister, I really wanted to make her feel grown up and apart of the Bridal party, so Ann and I scooped her up and took her to the most fun little brunch at State of Grace.  In the past few years, Hannah and I’s relationship has grown so much. She transformed from such a little kid, to such a little grown up so fast and I am so excited to have her by my side!

Special Maid of Honor Gifts

Since the MOH has such a big role in the wedding and has extra responsibility, I wanted to add a little something into the MOH boxes to make Ann and Hannah really feel special. I found these Kate Spade Knot Earrings at Nordstrom and knew they would be perfect for them! I ended up buying a pair for each of them, as well as for myself. It’s sentimental and I love that we all have matching pieces. As of right now, they are my favorite earrings to wear!

I’m not going to lie, at one point I was a little overwhelmed with my boxes, but in the end, I am so glad that I did them! They all loved them and I love that they loved them so much! Plus it made everyone so excited for the festivities!

Wedding Update! Surprise, We’re Getting Married In Napa!

img_5904Weekend Guide To Napa Valleyimg_5912Weekend Guide To Napa ValleyWeekend Guide To Napa ValleyWeekend Guide To Napa Valleyimg_5933img_6074

Surprise you guys, we are officially getting Napa! I have given hints here and there, but I finally felt like it was time to officially fill you guys in on everything. I know most of ya’ll guessed it since we were out there twice in a matter of two months, but I had never officially said anything.

The reason I tried to keep it a secret for such a long time is because I just wanted everything to be finalized. I needed to talk to family members and tell everyone closest to us first before putting it on the internet. We are truly so excited about this and cannot wait for our big day.

When we first started planning, we had three options. (1) Stay in Texas and have a big 300+ wedding (2) Have a much smaller destination wedding or (3) Elope. Ultimately, we felt like #2 was the best option for us. I have always wanted a destination wedding. I had never pictured my wedding being a giant 300+ wedding but instead a more intimate  and romantic one. I personally always dreamed of Cabo, but Colton shut that down really fast. Next I dreamed of Italy, but reality shut that one down. Then, after visiting Napa in September, we just knew it was right for us. We went again in October with my Dad to look at venues and after a lot of going back and forth, here we are!

You guys have sent me a ton of emails concerning the wedding so I figured the best way for me to answer all of your questions would to be through a Q&A.

I should cover all of your questions below!

Where and when is the wedding? How did you choose your date?

Yes – our wedding date is set to be 10-14-17

We chose this date, because we fell in love during the fall season. Colton’s Birthday is in late September and our current Anniversary is in late November so we liked that this was right in between. Plus, the date just felt right!

Why Napa?

As I mentioned above, I have always wanted a destination wedding. After visiting in September, Colton and I just knew. We love Napa because it’s just us. It’s classy and romantic yet very laid back and fun! It’s also just incredibly beautiful and has the best weather. Plus, we want our wedding to be very small. When I picture our wedding, I picture  a really fun weekend surrounded by our closest friends and family. One where everyone can just really let loose, be relaxed and have the best time. What better place for this than Napa?

What is the most stressful part of wedding planning?

Everything. Lol – jk! For me, so far the most stressful part was picking a venue. I kid you not, it took me 6 months to make up my mind. I was searching for “the perfect venue”. What I learned to accept, is that there is no perfect venue. You just have to find in a venue what is most important to you. Now that we have a venue, I feel like everything is falling into place.

My current issue is finding time to plan the wedding and building the guest list. It has also been difficult trying to find accommodations for everyone that fits every different persons budget. I know in the end I can’t make everyone happy, but because it is destination, I want to try the best I can.

What has surprised you the most with wedding planning?

The COST! Holy moly. I always knew weddings were expensive, but I don’t think I ever realized jut how expensive. Colton and I still contemplate eloping  – ha!

Are you glad to be engaged within a year or two after graduating?

You know, I am. It’s weird because Colton and I have always said that we wanted to get married around 27 or 28. The thing is though, we have been together for 5 years. If I would have met Colton yesterday, I think we would still be on the 27-28 track but I mean, we live together, we know each other are the ones and we are ready to finally start our lives together.

Are you the first of your friends to get engaged? If so, what is that like?

For me yes, for Colton, no. Because of that, I think this experience has been a little bit different for me. Colton has been in two weddings already and will be in two more this year. Me on the other hand, I kind of feel like the ginny pig -lol. The good thing though, is that all of my friends are literally so excited! I mean have been above and beyond the best and supportive.

Do you have a wedding planner?

Definitely. I picked my wedding planner before my actual wedding venue! I knew I especially needed one since we were doing Destination and I love our wedding planner! She has literally  been so helpful and makes me feel completely at ease. I cannot imagine not having her. If you’d like to check her out, her name is Kathy Higgins! You can find her website, here and more of her weddings, here

You have a different ring from the day you got engaged, why did you change it?

I did! Well, we added to it. When Colton proposed, he proposed with the one single diamond. He already had the additional diamonds, but wasn’t sure how I wanted them arranged. So he wanted to wait until we returned home, so that we could design it together.

My favorite part about my ring, is that the additional diamonds we added were actually Colton’s Memo’s from her engagement ring. Colton and his Memo were very close, so it really makes it incredibly sentimental.

How did you and Colton meet & how long were you together before he proposed?

Colton and I met the summer going into our Sophomore year at Baylor. We had just moved into our off-campuses houses that ended up being one house down from the other. His roommate at the time was my big in my sororities boyfriend (now husband!). When he heard that I had moved in one house down from him, he made it a point to come up and introduce himself to me at a party. We started dating that November!

He proposed after about 4 1/2 years of dating. We dated for three years while in school and 1 1/2 years post college. Now, we have just hit our official 5 year mark! I know everyone is different, but I love that we dated for so long before getting married. Maturity wise, we weren’t ready for marriage anytime before that. We had to grow up a little bit. Now, there are no surprises between us and we have made it through some really hard times with one another.  I have no doubts that Colton is the one and only person I am supposed to marry.

Are you planning on doing a wedding diet? If so, which one?

This one is in the works…. I do not plan on doing any major “wedding diet” but I do plan on getting much stricter on my diet the closer and closer we get to the wedding.

Do you like being engaged?

I LOVE IT. Like I want to be engaged forever lol. Hints probably why we are having a little bit of a longer engagement.

Have you found your dress?

No, I have not! I plan on starting to look around February.

Thank you guys for all of your love and support! I love knowing that you guys care so much and are truly interested in our plans.

If you guys have anymore questions, please leave me a comment or just send over an email!

When it comes to birthday’s, celebrations, holidays, and well, any reason to celebrate, I like to go all out. I love going out of my way to make people feel special. I’ll find the perfect gift and I know the perfect way to deliver it, but the one thing I always forget about or leave to the last minute, is the most important part, the card.

It’s like clock work. I will spend weeks planning a present or party for someone and then on my way out the door I’m like “OH MY GOD, I FORGOT THE CARD!”. Next thing you know,  I’m rushing to CVS to search for the “perfect card”. Then, I can’t just pick a card, I have to find THE perfect card. &&& I’m not even kidding you, the amount of time it takes me to pick out a card is insane, and when you mix that, with picking a card up at the last minute…. it doesn’t work well.

Because here’s the deal.

To me, cards are the most important part of a gift. Which makes it completely ironic that I wait until the last minute to buy them. I love cards because they are whatever you want them to be. They can be funny, they can be sentimental, romantic, or even basic. The bottom line is, that is from you.

I for one, always choose the sentimental route, but what can I say, I’m a sap at heart.

So when V. Paperie, reached out to me, about their monthly card subscription, I was like ” OMG, this is what I have been missing in my life!”.

V. Paperie is a monthly subscription box that delivers beautiful paper products ranging from calligraphy cards to fun desk accessories to your door step. As you can see, the cards are beautiful, and the watercolor touch is so spot on. You can see exactly how it works, here

With the subscription, each month, you are delivered a new set of hand painted calligraphy cards. Whether you need a birthday card or a last minute thank you note, V. Paperie has you covered.

Because I am, a total sap and along with everything else, I like to make my cards perfect. So my secret, is to use one of these beautiful cards from the V. Paperie subscription, along with this website to help me find exactly what to say. Literally, piece of cake. My September box was so cute too. It came with multiple cards (which have already been used!) Along with a super cute note book, fun pencils, a magnet, and a note pad.

If you’re anything like me and are interested (& you should be!) you can subscribe to V. Paperie, here!:)

Have a great day! ❤ ❤

Thank you V. Paperie for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
