Hi guys!

My goodness, it feels good to be back! How was everyone’s Christmas?? Besides the fact that it was 85 degrees here in Houston, ours was really lovely. The entire weekend was spent with family and I wouldn’t have it any other way. At Church on Christmas morning, the whole sermon focused on the importance of Presence over Presents during the holidays and, well, everyday. For some reason, this really hit home for me. Which is why, over the weekend, I just kind of really took a break from everything and focused on what was important to me, which was the people around me.

Earlier in the week, before Christmas, it was actually freezing outside, which was when we were able to shoot this look! Now that I think about it, it was really cold for quite a few weeks because at one point, I definitely wore this sweater from Goodnight Macaroon at least 5 days in a row. Maybe more. I got it in early December and it quickly became one of those items that I wanted to wear all the time. It’s warm, it’s soft and the fringe gives it a little edge that separates it from other sweaters. This sweater is definitely my favorite piece in my closet right now! The weather man says that the temperatures will be dropping this week, so fingers crossed because I want to continue wearing this sweater everyday -lol! Also, really quick before I get into the rest of this, Goodnight Macaroon is having a site wide sale so everything is 40% off with code: XMAS40 !!

Okay, now onto my FIVE THINGS. These are random things that have either been on my mind, that I am loving or that I am wanting.

(1) I’m First a Blogger, over everything

I thought about writing a whole post on this, but I think for now, this will suffice. Recently, with growth on Instagram and constantly having to keep up with all of my social media channels, I feel like I have forgotten a little bit that I am a blogger first and everything else is second. This blog is what I put my heart and soul into everyday and what I produce content for. I produce blog posts everyday for you guys, not for likes on an Instagram post.

(2) Kate Somerville Has Done Wonders For My Skin

I honestly cannot say enough good things about the Kate Somerville Skin Care Line. Like OMG. I will do a whole post on it this month, but until then, if you are looking for a new skin care line, I highly recommend it. I saw immediate results in my skin after one use – swear!

(3) I’ve become completely and totally  obsessed with Podcasts

Podcasts have been filling my life recently and I can’t stop. I listen to them in the car, at the gym, at work, and on walks with Bentley. I’m literally obsessed with them. If you’re interested in a post featuring all of my favorites, let me know!

(4) Taking Breaks Away From Social Media Is Vital

Over the weekend, I really took a huge break from social media and absolutely loved it.I wasn’t on the computer, I wasn’t scrolling through Instagram and I wasn’t checking up on snapchat or anything. I pretty much put my phone away and didn’t know where it was half the weekend. I didn’t realize how much I needed this break until I had it. With the blog and with social media outlets, like Instagram, it is really easy to get caught up in the comparison game. Which is why it is so important to step away, and give yourself a break.

(5) I’m Absolutely Obsessing Over Swimsuits

I know, I know, Christmas was just two days ago!!! But in my defense, we leave for Cabo in less than 15 days so I am stocking up! So far, I am loving all high neck halters tops, one pieces, and even high waisted suits! Below are a few of my current favorites!

Happy Wednesday Guys!

Taking a moment away from all of the Holiday cheer to share the cutest little NYE look with you. New Years Eve always sneaks up on me because I am usually so consumed with Christmas, that I forget that it is literally the very next week!

I absolutely love New Years Eve though. Then again, who doesn’t! Last year we took a break from the glitz and glam and went to our friends lake house to bring in the year and honestly had a blast! This year though, I think I am ready to dress up again! After wearing so much black, white and red this Holiday season, I really wanted to switch it up for my NYE look. This whole look is kind of eclectic and I am absolutely obsessed with it. Especially this dress

I love this NYE dress for multiple reasons.

(1) It’s under $100.

(2) It’s ridiculously comfortable.

(3) It shimmers like it is glitter.

(4) It’s sexy in all of the right places.

(5) It could be worn to other events besides new years!

I also love this little faux fur purse  I paired with it (so fun!) and my little faux fur BCBG cropped coat. I’ve had this little coat for years and rarely get to wear it so I love that it worked so well with this! Here is a similar one

I know sequins are all of the rave on NYE but I honestly can’t stand to wear them. I love looking at them, but I just can’t wear them. It’s too uncomfortable for me. Every time I see a girl wearing sequins I’m like “Oh my god, I want to wear sequins! Take me to the mall, I have to look like her!!”. Then I try on a sequin outfit and can’t move because I am just so incredibly uncomfortable. I’m telling you, it happens every time. But incase you are someone who can actually rock the sequins, I picked my favorite sequin looks below! NYE is a little over a week away, so if you pick out your outfit now, it will be here in time to bring in the new year! Number (1) on this list is my absolute favorite!

Happy Halloween Weekend Friends!!

I literally cannot believe it is almost November, like where has this year gone?! The past few months have just been completely flying by. I walked into Marshall’s two weeks ago and it was flooded with Christmas decorations. Which don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas, but at the same time, give the other Holidays a chance too – lol!

This weekend, Colton and I are headed out of town and unfortunately will not be able to really partake in any crazy Halloween fun. Which really makes me sad because I love Halloween so much (like love it) but I know this weekends plans will be equally as fun! Don’t worry, I’ll probably sneak a costume in somewhere throughout the weekend.

I started this series, Links I Love, when I first started Life to Lauren and am thinking of bringing it back! It’s basically just a list of my favorite links from the week, for you to enjoy, on your Friday, as you watch the clock, waiting for it to be the weekend 😉

Good Morning, welcome to my home, again! One of my favorite things about fall & winter, is all the decorating that comes along with it. Perhaps it’s the dessert scented candles that should get all of the glory, but something about this time of year makes our home just so much more inviting!!

This year, to save my self from having to put up & take down too many decorations in between Halloween and Thanksgiving, I’ve chosen pretty neutral decor choices for the fall. I mainly centered our home around white pumpkins & lots of candles. I’m not kidding when I say I pretty much have an obsession with the two of those. I literally have white pumpkins and candles burning everywhere! The white pumpkins are just so inviting (they’re like the pineapples of the season!) and the candles make our home smell scrumptious.

Speaking of scrumptious. During this time of the year, I always have yummy snacks for guests on hand! My favorites to keep around the house are my  Flourless Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies and Spiced Pecans ! Literally, so good.

Another easy touch to add to your home, is a simple holiday pillow. Spring & summer, I have a pineapple pillow as the main focus of our couch, then for the winter I have a Christmas tree pillow and then I picked up this pumpkin pillow for the fall. I have to say, even Bentley is in the fall//Holiday spirit! I picked him up from the groomers last week and they put the cutest Halloween bandana on him. You can’t tell from the pictures, but they have little bats on them! He looks adorable – lol.

One thing I am also doing this fall is decluttering. I’m not sure if “autumn cleaning” is a thing, but it definitely has been for me. I have been throwing things away and giving them away left and right. Actually, this is the last time you will see our apartment looking like this! Change is happening people – lol.

If you’re wanting more Halloween decor, check out my picks here!
