Life to Lauren Approved Shampoos & Conditioners

More and more recently, I have been getting a lot of questions concerning my hair. Where I get it done, what products I use, how I curl my hair, how often I wash it and etc.

I know a lot of people swear by only washing their hair once or twice a week, but I am not one of those people. Having greasy hair is a true pet peeve of mine. As in, I literally cannot stand it and since I do workout so often, rarely washing my hair is not an option. I would say that I wash my hair every other day. I love the feeling and look of fresh, clean hair. Which is why I love the following shampoos and conditioners so much. They make my hair soft and shiny as well as giving it that certain glow.

The following are all of my favorites!

Pai ShauYou know those times when your hair is constantly greasy and no matter what you do or how many times you wash it, it just always feels gross? It happens to me all the time and is usually the result of a chemical build up in your hair. I promise when I say that this brand has been awesome for fixing this. I bought it over 4th of July weekend on a fluke, after forgetting my Moroccan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner. I hate using hotel products, so I ran down to the hotels salon to pick something up different up. While there, one of the ladies convinced me to try Pai Shau. After the first wash, I was hooked! I love it because it doesn’t have any oil in it, but instead uses tea extracts! You can find the shampoo here & the conditioner here

Moroccan Oil: I was introduced to Moroccan Oil my freshman year at Baylor and immediately felt like I had been missing out of the best shampoo & conditioner combo of all time. Up until this time, I was just using store brands like Pantene Prov and what not, but the moment I tried Moroccan Oil, my hair changed for the better. Softer & shinier.  I use the Hydrating Shampoo and the Hydrating Conditioner. Although since it is a hydrating shampoo, if your hair is prone to get greasy, I wouldn’t use this one everyday. Although if you have dry to normal hair, then this is a great option

Redken: In my mind, this is the perfect every day shampoo & conditioner combo for normal hair. It makes my hair super shiny and is sold at almost any store that holds beauty products. As of right now, this is the combo I use almost daily! While I do normally like to switch up my brands, this one has been the one I have been gravitating to the most recently.

Oribe: The perfect purple shampoo & conditioner combo that every blonde needs in their life. It keeps my highlights looking fresh and takes the brassiness out of your hair without actually making it look purple lol. I use this about once or twice a week. Especially before shoots or parties. It’s also a little but on the pricer side, which is another reason I do not use it everyday. I suggest using both the shampoo and conditioner for the best results.

It’s a 10: I started using this shampoo and conditioner after I had been using their miracle leave in product (AMAZING) for about  year. When it comes to this combo, I use it like a hair treatment. I love it because I literally feel the shampoo cleaning my hair, as well as replenishing . It truly repairs my hair. It’s sulfate free, and for a shampoo & conditioner, it oddly has a lot of vitamins in it! I only use this product once a week though, because if I used it any more than that, my hair would get greasy super fast.

What are your favorite shampoos & conditioners??

Hi-ya, guys! Welcome back 🙂

Today, I wanted to give you all an honest review on the Oval 10 Piece Makeup Brush Set from MyMakeUpBrush

MyMakeUpBrush sent me their best selling, 10 Piece Oval set, almost two months ago for me to try out. I waited so long to share it with you all because, well, I was hesitant. See, unlike most of the oval brush sets that are on the market, and selling for $300+, this set is less than $50. See my hesitation? None-the-less, I tried them out, and here is my honest review.

Background: I am not a beauty guru. Literally, my make up routine is very basic. I do not do a ton of conturing and I like the less is more approach. So, if make-up is your thing and you are used to buying the top of the, top of the line brushes, then you will probably not like these brushes. Me on the other hand? I blended my foundation with my fingers until halfway through college….so I’m a little less judg-y. Although since then, I do have to say I have become more aware and more picky of what I use..

I shared with you all my everyday make-up routine, here, last week. So you guys know, that my favorite foundation is this Dior Air Flash foundation, applied by this brush. But that doesn’t mean I only use that foundation and that brush. Depending on the event, I also love the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Before I received the Oval Makeup Brush Set, I was using a beauty blender to blend those two foundations, and honestly never love it. I know the whole world was raving about beauty blenders at one point, but I never fell in love with them. Which is why I was probably so open to testing these oval brushes. I had been looking at similar brands online for awhile but couldn’t bare the thought of spend $355 on a set. So when MyMakeUpBrush reached out to me, and I saw the price point, I thought, why not!?

My first impression: Not pictured, but they each came individually wrapped, placed inside a nice velvet carrying case. When I unwrapped my first brush, I was in love with how soft it was. I mean, I know most new brushes are soft, but this was like really soft and felt wonderful on my skin.

Thoughts on the application: I was absolutely shocked as to how well it covered my face and blended my makeup smoothly. Out of the 10 brushes though, I really only use about 3-4 of them daily. One for my foundation, one for bronzer, one for concealer and maybe one for eye shadow.

How they have held up: Since they are lesser price point, my main concern was that they were going fray a little bit, but honestly, after two months, they have yet to fray or have pieces fall out. I’ve actually been really impressed. I also learned they are very easy to clean and after washing them, turn out brand as if new.

Final Thoughts: I am not here to say “OMG YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS BRUSH SET. But, if you were like me and have wanted an oval brush set for awhile, but have been hesitant because of the price, then this is a great option. If you are a makeup artist and live/breath makeup brushes, you probably won’t like this set as much because, well, you’re a professional and I’m not lol. Final thought, I love my set and I could care less that I didn’t spend the big bucks on them. They give me great coverage and work well in my lifestyle.

Have you tried the MyMakeUpBrush Set

What are your thoughts on this?

How To Get Rid Of The Summertime Face Oil ASAP

It’s summer, and in Houston that means it’s HOT. So having your make-up run down your face is, uhh, not cute! Literally, everytime I go outside and it’s so humid that I instantly feel like I need to shower again.  And while we all love that summer time glow, that summer time face oil, not so much.

Here’s How To Get Rid Of The Summertime Face Oil In 60 Seconds

  1. Non oil based cleanser. Like this one or this one. It will help to prep your skin for what’s to come throughout the day.
  2. Start using a toner like this one (love). Toners help to fully clean out pours and wipe away any previous dirt your skin may have and control your current oil situation.
  3. Blot Away. Remember in high school when you used to blot your life away with those little blue packets? Well, after years of backlash, they are making a come back. Just remember to blot and not rub. Try this one or this one.
  4. Set Your Make-up. This is a step that most of us skip (me included!) but I never skip it during the summertime. You’ll want a setting spray and a loose setting powder. You’ll also want to carry the setting powder in your purse. This is the best step for when you’re out and about and need to freshen up ASAP.
