Patchology Eye Gel Patches

Hi guys, Lauren here!

I have a confession to make.

I, Lauren Smith, have an addiction to Eye Gel Masks. I mean, a full on obsession. If you follow me on Snapchat (Lauren_Smith6), then there is a pretty good chance you guys have seen me wearing my gel eye patches  almost every day.

& let me note, this is not a sponsored post. Just straight realness.

When I wake up in the morning, the dark circles under my eyes are gnarly. Which probably has something to do with the fact that I sleep straight on my face…. but none the less, gel eye masks save me every time. When I first noticed my eyes really starting getting bad, I started going crazy over eye creams and saw little to no results until I started using gel eye patches

When it comes to these eye patches, Patcheology, are the best you will find. Remember, this is not sponsored! I love them because, not only do they really work, but because they also work really fast. For most eye gel masks, you have to leave  them on for 20 minutes or more, but these from Patcheology patches work in 5 minutes. Which is literally perfect for me, because I wear these before getting ready for work.

When I went to Nordstrom’s a few weeks ago , one of the ladies in cosmetics was trying to sell me on these Patchology Gel Eye  Patches and I just wasn’t buying into it at first. Long story short, she talked me into putting one patch on one eye and not the other, to see the difference between the two eyes and OH MY GOSH the difference. I turned to her and I go, “okay, we have to do the other eye now! I cannot walk out of here with one eye looking fab and the other one looking like the grim reaper – lol”.

For a pack of 30 eye gels, these bad boys run for $50, but if you are not ready to spend that and just want to try them out first, you can get a sampler pack for $15. That’s what I did and then immediately ordered more!

For the longest time I was using Skyn Hydro Firming Gels, which worked GREAT, but it was $30 for only eight patches….and I had to wear them for 20 minutes….so when Patchology came in my life, it was kind of a no brainer.

I wanted to share this with you because this is my most requested post from Snapchat. Like, I am not lying when I say I am commited lol. If you guys decide to try them, try keeping them in the fridge to keep them extra cool! It’s just amazing how in 5 minutes, they firm the skin under my eyes and take away the dark circles.

They are literally miracle patches!

You can find them online at Nordstrom’s, Amazon,  Neiman Marcus & Ulta

Life to Lauren Approved Shampoos & Conditioners

moroccanoiloribeimg_7004passion-for-liferedken

More and more recently, I have been getting a lot of questions concerning my hair. Where I get it done, what products I use, how I curl my hair, how often I wash it and etc.

I know a lot of people swear by only washing their hair once or twice a week, but I am not one of those people. Having greasy hair is a true pet peeve of mine. As in, I literally cannot stand it and since I do workout so often, rarely washing my hair is not an option. I would say that I wash my hair every other day. I love the feeling and look of fresh, clean hair. Which is why I love the following shampoos and conditioners so much. They make my hair soft and shiny as well as giving it that certain glow.

The following are all of my favorites!

Pai ShauYou know those times when your hair is constantly greasy and no matter what you do or how many times you wash it, it just always feels gross? It happens to me all the time and is usually the result of a chemical build up in your hair. I promise when I say that this brand has been awesome for fixing this. I bought it over 4th of July weekend on a fluke, after forgetting my Moroccan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner. I hate using hotel products, so I ran down to the hotels salon to pick something up different up. While there, one of the ladies convinced me to try Pai Shau. After the first wash, I was hooked! I love it because it doesn’t have any oil in it, but instead uses tea extracts! You can find the shampoo here & the conditioner here

Moroccan Oil: I was introduced to Moroccan Oil my freshman year at Baylor and immediately felt like I had been missing out of the best shampoo & conditioner combo of all time. Up until this time, I was just using store brands like Pantene Prov and what not, but the moment I tried Moroccan Oil, my hair changed for the better. Softer & shinier.  I use the Hydrating Shampoo and the Hydrating Conditioner. Although since it is a hydrating shampoo, if your hair is prone to get greasy, I wouldn’t use this one everyday. Although if you have dry to normal hair, then this is a great option

Redken: In my mind, this is the perfect every day shampoo & conditioner combo for normal hair. It makes my hair super shiny and is sold at almost any store that holds beauty products. As of right now, this is the combo I use almost daily! While I do normally like to switch up my brands, this one has been the one I have been gravitating to the most recently.

Oribe: The perfect purple shampoo & conditioner combo that every blonde needs in their life. It keeps my highlights looking fresh and takes the brassiness out of your hair without actually making it look purple lol. I use this about once or twice a week. Especially before shoots or parties. It’s also a little but on the pricer side, which is another reason I do not use it everyday. I suggest using both the shampoo and conditioner for the best results.

It’s a 10: I started using this shampoo and conditioner after I had been using their miracle leave in product (AMAZING) for about  year. When it comes to this combo, I use it like a hair treatment. I love it because I literally feel the shampoo cleaning my hair, as well as replenishing . It truly repairs my hair. It’s sulfate free, and for a shampoo & conditioner, it oddly has a lot of vitamins in it! I only use this product once a week though, because if I used it any more than that, my hair would get greasy super fast.

What are your favorite shampoos & conditioners??

Hi-ya, guys! Welcome back 🙂

Today, I wanted to give you all an honest review on the Oval 10 Piece Makeup Brush Set from MyMakeUpBrush

MyMakeUpBrush sent me their best selling, 10 Piece Oval set, almost two months ago for me to try out. I waited so long to share it with you all because, well, I was hesitant. See, unlike most of the oval brush sets that are on the market, and selling for $300+, this set is less than $50. See my hesitation? None-the-less, I tried them out, and here is my honest review.

Background: I am not a beauty guru. Literally, my make up routine is very basic. I do not do a ton of conturing and I like the less is more approach. So, if make-up is your thing and you are used to buying the top of the, top of the line brushes, then you will probably not like these brushes. Me on the other hand? I blended my foundation with my fingers until halfway through college….so I’m a little less judg-y. Although since then, I do have to say I have become more aware and more picky of what I use..

I shared with you all my everyday make-up routine, here, last week. So you guys know, that my favorite foundation is this Dior Air Flash foundation, applied by this brush. But that doesn’t mean I only use that foundation and that brush. Depending on the event, I also love the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Before I received the Oval Makeup Brush Set, I was using a beauty blender to blend those two foundations, and honestly never love it. I know the whole world was raving about beauty blenders at one point, but I never fell in love with them. Which is why I was probably so open to testing these oval brushes. I had been looking at similar brands online for awhile but couldn’t bare the thought of spend $355 on a set. So when MyMakeUpBrush reached out to me, and I saw the price point, I thought, why not!?

My first impression: Not pictured, but they each came individually wrapped, placed inside a nice velvet carrying case. When I unwrapped my first brush, I was in love with how soft it was. I mean, I know most new brushes are soft, but this was like really soft and felt wonderful on my skin.

Thoughts on the application: I was absolutely shocked as to how well it covered my face and blended my makeup smoothly. Out of the 10 brushes though, I really only use about 3-4 of them daily. One for my foundation, one for bronzer, one for concealer and maybe one for eye shadow.

How they have held up: Since they are lesser price point, my main concern was that they were going fray a little bit, but honestly, after two months, they have yet to fray or have pieces fall out. I’ve actually been really impressed. I also learned they are very easy to clean and after washing them, turn out brand as if new.

Final Thoughts: I am not here to say “OMG YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS BRUSH SET. But, if you were like me and have wanted an oval brush set for awhile, but have been hesitant because of the price, then this is a great option. If you are a makeup artist and live/breath makeup brushes, you probably won’t like this set as much because, well, you’re a professional and I’m not lol. Final thought, I love my set and I could care less that I didn’t spend the big bucks on them. They give me great coverage and work well in my lifestyle.

Have you tried the MyMakeUpBrush Set

What are your thoughts on this?

My Every Day Makeup Routine

Happy Friday you guys!

Man, oh man has it been a rainy week here in Houston.

I hope it doesn’t rain all weekend, but at the same time, I wouldn’t hate having a lazy movie weekend – lol! After getting a lot of messages from you guys, on my make up routine, I realized I hadn’t exactly done one yet. So here it is – lol.

Of course I change my make up routine, considering the occasion. But if you’re looking for my every day, work, errands, and life routine. This is it!  Besides the lipstick, this is also the routine I usually do for photoshoots as well!

Here it goes 🙂

Skincare

Before I put my make up on, I always prep my skin. I told you all about my skin care routine in this post. First, I was my face with this foaming cleanser using my Foreo. Next, I apply this (life changing) eye creamwhich helps with dark circles, followed by this serum. Then I apply daily moisturizerwhich has SPF in it. Last, I use this lip exfoliator on my lips to get any dead skin off.

Primer // Foundation // Concealer

After my face is ready, I use this primer. I have tried multiple over the years, but this Laura Mercia Blemish-Less Primer takes the cake every time. Next, I use Dior Air Flash for my foundation and apply it with this brush. It’s pricey, but I love it! I have used every “top” foundation under the moon, but this is my go-to every time. It really leaves that air brush look. Then, I apply this Nars Radiant Concealer under my eyes in a triangle shape, as well as over any blemishes or pimples I may have. My absolute favorite, is this Cle De Peau Beaute Concealer, but it’s just a little to pricey for everyday use.

 Bronzer // Blush // Highlighters

This is my absolute favorite bronzer for a natural healthy glow. I’m not going to lie, I usually just apply it all over my face -lol. I love a good bronzed look. After I apply my bronzer, I apply this Chanel blush to my cheek bones and then use this Hour Glass Illuminating Powder for my highlighter.

Brows // Eye Shadow // Mascara

I use all Anastasia Beverly Hills products for my eye brows. I use this brow powder and this brow gel.  For my everyday eye shadow, I use just a little bit of this Bare Minerals Glimmer Eye Shadow. A little goes a long away.  (I’ve had the same one since I was 16!) Then I use this SmashBox Brightener on the inner corners of my eyes and right under my eye brows. I’m probably the most loyal to this brightener, I love how it looks and how it immediately brightens my eyes. For an every day look, I do not use eye liner. Instead, I just really make my mascara dramatic. I am not super loyal when it comes to mascara, but I am recently love, love, loving this Dior Mascara

Lipstick

For an every day look, especially for work, I like to wear more subtle, almost nude colors. I’ll either wear this light pink YSL Lipstick (Shade: Lingere Pink), this nude YSL Lipstick (Shade: 24 Blond Ingenu), or this Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment (Shade: Petal)

Finishing Power

Last but not least, I apply this Laura Mercier Translucent Powder and spray this Cauadelie Beauty Elixir all over my face before I leave!
